The New York Yankees are aiming to expand their investments by establishing a casino in Coney Island.
A consortium of investors submitted their proposal for a land-based casino in the Brooklyn district. They are actively participating in a fierce competition for one of the three New York casino licenses, all of which will be granted in the City area next year.
Saratoga Casino Holdings, a prominent racetrack casino owner and operator, and the Chickasaw Nation, a Native American tribe managing several casinos nationwide, are both investors in the project.
Another contender is Thor Equities, who currently possess a property in Coney Island and intend to establish the casino there. Additionally, Legends, a company partially owned by the New York Yankees, has also expressed interest in the project.
Both the Yankees and the New York Mets are potentially vying for a casino license, setting the stage for a possible showdown. Steve Cohen, the owner of the Mets, is currently engaged in discussions with Hard Rock regarding a bid for a casino located near Citi Field in Willets Point.
Bill Rhoda, the President of Legends Global Planning, expressed that this magnificent resort is set to become a renowned entertainment hub, offering top-notch gaming facilities, a diverse range of restaurants, and year-round entertainment for both locals and tourists.
Resorts World New York City in Queens and Empire City Casino in Yonkers are among the racetrack casinos that will be vying for competition. Wynn Resorts, Related Companies, SL Green, and Caesars are also anticipated to join the fray.
