In 2022, Connecticut achieved unprecedented numbers, setting new records. The state experienced consistent growth in online casino earnings every month, and in December, it soared past the remarkable milestone of $1 billion.
- Connecticut’s casino revenue surpasses $1 billion.
- The consistency of sports betting remains unchanged.
Last year, the state of Connecticut surpassed the billion-dollar mark. In the month of December alone, the online casino handle reached approximately $1.003 billion, marking an 11% increase from November’s $90.375 million. With this achievement, Connecticut joins the ranks of states like New Jersey, Nevada, and Pennsylvania in generating $1 billion in online gaming revenue in a single month.
A sum of $22.68 million was collected in gaming revenue for that month, originating from online casino activities. This money will be allocated towards improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation.
Connecticut is among the six states that provide legal online casino options. The other states in this category are West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Michigan.
How about considering sports betting?
In December, sports betting in Connecticut experienced a decrease with a total of $160.27 million handled by the state, marking a 2.9% drop from November’s nearly $165.03 million. However, despite not reaching the same level as online casinos, there is a positive aspect to highlight. Connecticut has consistently recorded $165 million in sports betting wagers for three consecutive months.
Connecticut’s sports betting market saw a total handle of $1.52 billion in the previous year, with $11.63 million generated through online sports betting and $999,889 from retail operations.
Since October 2021, it should be noted that online sports betting and sportsbooks have been accepting wagers in Connecticut.
